Abhaya Hastham scheme was an initiative of Telangana Government to secure the place of elderly women in the society. By the time a women attain the age of 65 years, she has already suffered the loss of her husband or caretaker in the family. Hence, these women are unable to avail certain benefits that will keep them going. This scheme has been implemented to provide insurance and pension to these women who are 65 years or older.

There are several benefits of this scheme. The main benefit is availability of financial support to all women who have attained the age of 65 years. This financial support provided by the Telangana government will benefit elderly women and uplift their condition in the society. The scheme will provide women with growth and security that they deserve and need to live with dignity. The concerned authorities of Telangana government have launched the scheme in the state.

Abhaya Hastham Scheme 2023: Benefits

Under the scheme, the government will provide all beneficiaries of the Abhaya Hastham Scheme with the following financial benefits:

Ø The member of SHG will receive a monthly pension of Rs 500 or above in accordance with their eligibility.

All the SHG women will receive:

· The total amount of Rs 30,000 in a natural death case.

· The total amount of Rs 75000 in an accidental death case.

· The total amount of Rs 37500 in case of partial disability.

· The total amount of Rs 75000 in case of permanent disability.

Ø The child of the victim will get an amount of Rs 1200 as scholarship for his/her study up to intermediate and in ITI ( industrial technical institute).

Ø If the subscriber has passed away before the age of 59 years, the insurance and earning will be handed over to the nominee of the victim.

Ø If the subscriber has passed away after the age of 60 years, the remaining contribution will be handed over to the nominee.

Abhaya Hastham Scheme 2023: Eligibility Criteria

To avail the benefits of the scheme, the applicant must fulfil the following eligibility criteria listed below:

Ø The applicant must be a permanent resident of Telangana state.

Ø Only one person from each family is eligible for the benefits.

Ø The applicant must be 60 years of age.

Ø The applicant must be from BPL (Below Poverty Line) category household.

Ø The applicant must hold a ration card.

Ø The applicant must be an active member of SHG.

Ø The applicant must have been a member of SHG for at least one year.

Ø The member of SHG will contribute Rs 1 daily for the financial support to the beneficiaries. At the same time, the government will contribute Rs 1 daily for the member who has contributed.
