What to Pack in Your First Aid Kit: Essential Tools and Supplies

A first aid kit is a collection of supplies and equipment that is used to give medical treatment for a minor injury or illness. It is used until professional medical help is available. Having a well-stocked first aid kit can help deal with common medical emergencies and injuries.

Bandages

Bandages are necessary items that should always be included in a First Aid Kit. Different sizes of adhesive bandages are needed to cover small cuts, scrapes or burns. It is also good to include cohesive bandages that are stretchy and conform to the shape of the wound. Butterfly closures or steri-strips are useful for closing minor cuts. Roller bandages provide pressure and support for sprains and larger wounds. Gauze pads, large and small, are multipurpose for covering wounds or injuries. Adhesive tape is needed to secure bandages in place.
