Empowering Shramyogis through Antyodaya Shram Suraksha Accident Insurance Scheme
The centerpiece of this welfare scheme is the Antyodaya Shram Suraksha Accident Insurance Scheme, which aims to provide financial stability to workers in the event of accidents or death. Shramyogis registered under the e-Shram portal in Nadiad will be the initial beneficiaries of this scheme. The scheme offers extensive coverage through affordable insurance premiums of Rs. 289 and Rs. 499 per year. In the unfortunate event of accidental death, the worker’s family will receive Rs. 10 lakh as compensation. In cases of permanent disability, the worker will receive the same amount. Additionally, the scheme provides educational assistance of Rs. 1 lakh to the deceased worker’s children. These comprehensive benefits aim to provide financial security and empower shramyogis.
Efforts by the Postal Department and Indian Post Payments Bank
The Chief Minister commended the efforts of the Post Department and Gramin Dak Sevaks during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic. Their dedicated service ensured that workers could send money to their families when the banking sector faced disruptions. The trusted network of the Postal Department will be utilized to reach the maximum number of people through the insurance program, with plans to establish over 5,000 post offices across the country. The scheme will also be extended to cover other common citizens.
Recognizing Exemplary Performance and Felicitations
During the launch event, certificates were presented to 11 beneficiaries of the scheme by the India Post Payments Bank. Two beneficiaries of the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana were also honored. Furthermore, Gramin Dak Sevaks who demonstrated exemplary performance in the Kheda district were felicitated for their dedication and commitment.
