Family Jewelry Business Goes Global:  Brother-Sister Duo Achieves a New Height with Rs 32 Crore Annual Turnover

Rohan Sharma and Prakshi Sharma were born with a silver spoon in their mouth. However, they never wanted to rest on their parents’ laurels. Instead, they decided to build an emperor on the edifice that their parents built with their hard-earned money and great effort. Sweat and skill bring results if you have dedication. The siblings have proved it. Here is an inspiring story of the brother-sister’s design duet.

How It Started

Rohan and Prakshi, the brother-sister duo, were born into a family that had no history of Jewellery business. In 1995, their parents Rakesh Sharma and Sunita Sharma started their jewellery business with an initial capital of 3. 55 crore and founded RK Jewellers in Delhi. Their idea was to ensure the best quality and unique diamond and gold designs for their customers.

They did not mind working round the clock to get a strong foothold in the industry. Since neither of them came from a jewellery business family, they had no way but to work long hours for success.

Rohan and Prakshi Joined Business

In 2011, their children decided to take their family business a few notches ahead. They wanted to connect their jewellery business to the international platform by turning their business in a brand that caters to the audiences with penchant for aesthetics.

The brand has a manufacturing unit in Mumbai, where 50-60 employees from Rajasthan and Bengal work. They source required materials from Mumbai and Surat. They also import stones from New York and Israel.

A Change in Customers’ Mindset

According to Rohan, people used to consider jewellery as assets but now there has been a remarkable transformation in their thoughts. They now buy gold and diamond jewellery to flaunt off their fashion statement. Rohan added that he and his sister joined the business to bring a range of collections for this niche audience with a focus on the international standard in aesthetics.
