Air India, owned by Tata Group, has unveiled their new brand logo along with aircraft livery features aubergine, red and golden colours. The new log is reminding people of Vistara, another airline owned by Tata.
Apart from identity makeover, the company has brought a major overhaul to its operations. However, they have promised to prioritize technology to reclaim their lost ground in the aviation industry. Most businesses in the world are obsessed with technology, shifting a large part of their tech-related investment to AI-supported systems and Air India is not an exception.
Yesterday, at an event hosted to unveil the new logo, Air India chairman N Chandrasekaran said that the company plans to embed the “best technology” in the upcoming 9-12 months and will have its IT technology systems in place to emerge as a serious contender in the aviation industry, both in India and also foreign skyline. He made it clear that the company will invest in the best of machine learning and artificial intelligence to keep pace with modern technology and rule the skyline. Brand identity and aircraft livery makeover is a part of Air India’s grand rebranding plans.
These changes are not merely cosmetic. The chairman, while speaking at the event, stated that the company is focused on upgrading its human resources, which is a part of its immediate priority to refurbish the entire fleet and take it to an “acceptable level”.
“To make Air India a globally competitive airline requires a lot of work. In the last 12 months we have put together a strong team, and are focusing on upgrading all human resources in the airline. We are working to refurbish our current fleet to be in power with global standards,” he said.
Air India used the ‘Maharaja’ logo for decades. The iconic logo was appreciated for its aesthetics. Air India’s chief executive Campbell Wilson said that the ‘Maharaja’ logo will continue to “be part of the airline’s journey into the future”. He highlighted Air India’s big plan to renovate its wide-body fleet. He added that the work would start in a year and everything would be brand new by the end of 2025. Wilson revealed that Air India had already invested $400 for renovation till date.
Global Lounge Expansion
He also said that the priority for Air India is to have a lounge for its premium customers at all foreign destinations where their aircraft lands. Air India has already made a whopping amount of investment to build new lounges at Delhi and New York JFK airports, which is a part of their global lounge expansion plan across the international route network for premium customers.
Interior Refurbishing
Air India is believed to undergo a massive interior makeover as a part of the company’s rebranding plan.
