England’s bowling has suffered a setback in the Champions Trophy. After the semi-finalist Kars missed the tournament with a leg injury, spinner Rehan Ahmed has been named in his place. The England Wales Cricket Board (ECB) officially announced this. Kars was injured in the Group B match against the Aussies in Lahore on Saturday. While Australia were chasing a huge target, Kars bowled at an economy rate of 9.85 and became the most expensive bowler. Although he had a toe injury during the India tour, it worsened and he was eventually ruled out of the tournament. The 20-year-old Rehan Ahmed, who was selected to replace Kars, will strengthen England’s spin attack. Adil Rashid is currently the only front-line spinner, and Rehan’s addition will see further improvement in that department. Rehan, who has taken 10 wickets in five ODIs so far, has not played a single match in the previous tour of India. With Kars’ absence, Jamie Overton is likely to find a place in the playing XI again. Also, the likes of Saqib Mahmood and Gus Atkinson are likely to be included.Pace bowlingOptions are also available.
