Abuaa Awas Yojana

The Jharkhand Government launched the Abuaa Awas Yojana on August 15, 2023 through the CM’s Independence Day speech.

Under the scheme, the state government is planning to develop and provide three-room houses free of cost to the poor and needy. Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren announced the launch of ‘Abua Awas Yojna’ and said the state government would spend over Rs.15,000 crore under the scheme in the next two years.

The Abuaa Awas Yojna would be fully funded by the state government. Under the scheme, the state government is estimated to provide housing to around 7.5 lakh people in the rural areas. Though the chief minister did not share any blueprint of the scheme or deadline for its launch, according to the officials familiar with the development, the scheme would run separately from the ongoing central government ‘PM Awas Yojna’, aiming to provide housing for all.

The main objective of the Abua Awas Yojana being started by Chief Minister Hemant Soren is to provide pucca houses to all the poor families who do not have pucca houses to live in the state. Although poor families are getting pucca houses under the PM Awas Yojana, but there are still many families who could not get the benefit of pucca houses. This scheme has been started to provide pucca houses to these families. The PM Awas Yojana is set to end by March 2024.
